Two girls said to be related have been struck dead by lightning in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State. It was gathered that the incident occurred in the Ogo-Oluwa area of Orisa Elejin community around 4:30 pm on Sunday, August 29. A resident, Mary Ojuolape, told the Nation that the young girls were crossing a field in the area during a light rain when they were struck. "They were crossing a school football field around the Ogo-Oluwa area when they were struck down by lightning.” she said. Another resident named Dayo said there was a great crowd that gathered around the bodies of the girls. "I don’t know their names but they were siblings. The incident is sad and the entire community is sad over the incident." he added.
