Before Coranavirus, There Has Been A Deadly Virus That Spread Through World

Before coronavirus, what other pandemics that were as deadly as coronavirus, spread through the world as the coronavirus has?

1. Little detail on Small Pox

It was one of the worst epidemic from medieval history to modern history

“There hasn’t been a kill off in human history to match what happened in the Americas—90 to 95 percent of the indigenous population wiped out over a century,” says Mockaitis. “Mexico goes from 11 million people pre-conquest to one million.”

Edward Jenner introduced the vaccine for smallpox and in 1980 W.H.O had announced smallpox completely eradicated from earth.

Thanks to Srinivas Charlu (Srinivas Charlu) for pointing out.

2. AIDS - 36.4 Million people are affected by AIDS globally. There were more then 770,000 death in 2018. HIV infection were causing around 3.3 million lives per year which fall down to 2.6 million per year in 2005. AIDS have caused around 36 Million death so far.

3. 1918 - 1919 influenza (Flu) - first case found in US military personnel and later 1/3 of world population was affected by it. It claimed more than 50 millions lives 675000 in US.

Mortality rate was high for children below 10 years, 20 - 40 years and above 60 years people. Even though 20–40 years people have good immune but couldn't resist the deadly flu.

This flu was called Spanish flu but it wasn't originated from Spain.

Source - 1918 Pandemic (H1N1 virus)

4. Asian flu - 1957 - 1958 - claimed more then 1 million lives. This flu originated from China.

5. SARS - 2002.- 2003 - family of covid-19 that had 9% of mortality then covid-19 virus but it spread lesser compare to corona covid-19. (Not deadly enough then corona still added) . It was originated from China. But one of the another covid member MERS originated from. Saudi Arabia (these were having higher mortality rate but it spread at lesser speed then corona. I think corona has mortality of 10% as well if we take example of Iran, Italy, Spain

6. 2009–2010 - swine flu - Originated in Mexico, 1.4 billion people were affected and claimed half million life.

7. Ebola was deadly virus as well but thanks to Bill Gates and Melinda Gates for sending Medical expert to Africa and destroying Ebola from root.

8. Polio. Back in the 50s. But it wasn’t “just like.” Rather than older people, it struck mostly kids. Hard. I was there before the vaccine was available; I remember.

Several such flu cases were their in medieval history and modern history.

It is a common psychology of an individual that we expect corona virus to hardly sustain for half a year and want to know the massive impact it can create within short period so I took example from Influenza instead of small pox because we don’t want corona to be like small pox to last for centuries.

Thanks and stay safe

Florida's Messiest Execution

Florida's Messiest Execution On July 8, 1999, the execution of Allen Lee Davis set off a shock wave that rippled around the world. During his time in the electric chair, Davis bled profusely from the nose and suffered burns to his head, leg, and groin area. As the switch was thrown, the “Tiny” Davis, who was executed for the May 11, 1982, murder of Nancy Weiler and her two daughters, reared back against the restraints, giving witnesses a chilling glimpse under a black hood designed to hide the faces of the condemned. Blood poured from his vivid purple nose, ran down the wide leather strap that covered his mouth and soaked the white shirt. After the power was turned off, Davis was still alive. Witnesses said his chest rose and fell about 10 times before he went still. After the execution, state prison officials and Governor Jeb Bush said the Old Sparky functioned properly. Three photos of the incident have been published on Florida’s High Court official website in an attempt to argu...

The Macabre True Story Of Edward Paisnel, The Beast Of Jersey

The Macabre True Story Of Edward Paisnel, The Beast Of Jersey Throughout the 1960s, Edward Paisnel appeared to be a pillar of his small community on the English Channel Island of Jersey. He was a family man who was devoted to his wife Joan and her young children, and he even played Santa Claus at Christmastime for the young foster children at the group home that Joan founded. But when he wasn't spending time with his family or doing good deeds, he was donning this mask and sneaking into his neighbors' homes at night in order to sexually assault women and children. It would take more than a decade for police to finally catch up with the “Beast of Jersey" as they repeatedly focused on other suspects, blind to the fact that a man like Paisnel could commit such crimes. Officers only caught him when he ran a red light one day in 1971 and they happened to see his mask sitting right there in his car. Edward Paisnel committed more than a dozen rapes and assaults in the Channel Is...

The Daring Escape That Forged Winston Churchill

The Daring Escape That Forged Winston Churchill Future British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (far right) in a Boer prison camp. He was captured by the Boers after his train was ambushed in November 1899. He subsequently escaped in December 1899. When Britain went to war with the Boers in southern Africa in 1899, the future prime minister saw a chance to once again make a name for himself. Confirming Churchill’s assessment that “my literary talents do not exist in my imagination alone,” the London Morning Post won a fierce bidding war for his pen by agreeing to pay him $150,000 in present-day money for just four months’ work—a sum that exceeded those paid to either famed authors Rudyard Kipling or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle for similar work covering the Boer War. “Churchill was an excellent reporter. He understood history, so his analysis was insightful and brilliant, and his prose was incredibly beautiful,” Millard says. “I read a lot of coverage of the Boer War and his was head-an...

James Dean Posing Inside a Casket Seven Months Before His Death, 1955

James Dean Posing Inside a Casket Seven Months Before His Death, 1955 Throughout April of 1955, Life magazine commissioned photographer Dennis Stock to do a “visual biography” covering the life and times of actor James Dean. In addition to photos taken in New York City and Hollywood, it included a trip to his boyhood home of Fairmount, Indiana. In what would seem like eerie foreshadowing, Dean decided to pose inside a funeral parlor coffin for a series of shots. Sadly, the occasion would mark the last time Dean would visit Fairmont. He died just seven months later on September 30, 1955, in a car accident near Paso Robles, California. Afterwards, in 1956, George Stevens, director of Dean’s last and posthumous film “Giant,” was forced to address the photos while promoting the film. He told the Associated Press, “Jimmy Dean lived every day for the future. He had no more premonition of death than you or I … the picture beside the coffin was made when Dean visited a high school chum in his ...

David Parker Ray, The Serial Killer who spent $100,000 to build a soundproof Torture chamber

David Parker Ray, The Serial Killer who spent $100,000 to build a soundproof Torture chamber  "He told me I was never going to see my family again. He told me he would kill me like the others." In 1999, the small town of Elephant Butte, New Mexico, was rocked by a chilling story from Cynthia Vigil, a 22-year-old woman who had narrowly escaped being murdered by a local mechanic named David Parker Ray. According to Vigil, Ray had pretended to be an undercover cop who told her that she was under arrest for solicitation of sex work. Instead, Ray chained her up in his soundproof trailer, where he raped and tortured her with whips, medical instruments, and electric shocks with help from his girlfriend. Fortunately for Vigil, Ray's girlfriend accidentally left the keys to Vigil's restraints out in the open on the third day. This gave Vigil the chance to free her hands, stab Ray's girlfriend with an ice pick, and run to a nearby mobile home, where the homeowner pro...

How Bedlam became London's most iconic symbol

How Bedlam became London's most iconic symbol Known colloquially as "Bedlam," Bethlem Royal Hospital in England was once a torturous facility that crammed people with mental illness together with violent criminals. Indeed, for hundreds of years, Bedlam was simply a repository for society's "undesirables," and with poor management and even poorer resources, the hospital soon came to define chaos. Because the hospital relied on donations from patients' families, many of whom did not have the means to pay more than was required of them, Bedlam opened its doors in the 18th century as a sort of sideshow attraction, charging the public for admission as though it were a carnival. Some 96,000 visitors a year came to Bedlam to gawk at the patients. As one travel writer observed in 1725, "Lunatics of every description are shut up. Many inoffensive madmen walk in the big gallery. The second floor is reserved for dangerous maniacs, most of them being chained an...

This 1960s Invention promised to Ease childbirth--- by Rapidly spinning the mother around untill the baby flew out

This 1960s Invention promised to Ease childbirth--- by Rapidly spinning the mother around untill the baby flew out The Blonsky Device, A Spinning Machine Invented To Fling Babies Out Of Pregnant People Everyone knows that childbirth isn't easy. But what if pregnant patients could simply strap themselves to a table, spin at a high speed, and propel the baby out? In the 1960s, Charlotte and George Blonsky invented a contraption to do just that. Called the Blonsky device, the machine was designed to facilitate birth using centrifugal force. For safety, it came with neck, body, and thigh straps to hold down the pregnant person, and was also outfitted with a net meant to snatch up the baby after it flies out. As ridiculous as it sounds, the Blonskys actually got their patent approved in 1965 — though, perhaps fortunately, there's no evidence that the device was ever actually used.  Read more about this bizarre invention by clicking the link in our profile. Witnessing an elephant...
