A prisoner being hanged, drawn, and quartered in France

First recorded in England during the 13th century, this unusually extreme — even for the time — mode of execution was made the statutory punishment for treason in 1351. Though it was intended to be an act of such barbarous severity that no one would ever risk committing a treasonous act, there were nevertheless plenty of recipients over the next 500 years.

The process of being hanged, drawn and quartered began with the victim being dragged to the site of execution while strapped to a wooden panel, which was in turn tied to a horse.

They would then experience a slow hanging, in which, rather than being dropped to the traditional quick death of a broken neck, they would instead be left to choke horribly as the rope tore up the skin of their throat, their body weight dragging them downwards.

Guy Fawkes Execution

Guy Fawkes being executed for the Gunpowder Plot.

Some had the good fortune to die at this stage, including infamous Gunpowder Plot conspirator Guy Fawkes, who ensured a faster death by leaping from the gallows.

Once half strangled, the drawing would begin. The victim would be strapped down and then slowly disemboweled, their stomachs sliced open and their intestines and other major organs hacked apart and pulled — “drawn” — from the body.

The genitals would often be mutilated and ripped from between their legs. Those unlucky enough to still be alive at this point might witness their organs burned in front of them, before they were finally decapitated.

Once death had finally claimed them, the recipient’s body would be carved into four pieces — or “quartered” — and the parts sent to prominent areas of the country as a warning to others.

The head would often be taken to the infamous Tower of London, where it would be impaled on a spike and placed on the walls, “for the mockery of London.”

This is the oldest Egyptian mummy in existence. She is over 5500 years old

The mummy, known as "Ginger", is of a young man who died at the age of 19 (like Tutankhamun) due to a stab in the back. Curiously, on his right arm you can see a tattoo of a bull -this animal was represented as a symbol of power and virility in Egypt-, being the oldest figurative tattoo known in the world. It can be visited in the British Museum, where it has been exhibited for more than 100 years.(Quote from Fabio Piuma) UNDILUTED RELELATIONSHIP GIST, INFORMATION AND EDUCATION: Having a good listener can really help. Us, Nevada sex worker retires at 76 after 54 years of satisfying 500,000 client including four American president

NEVADA-(MaraviPost)–It’s been described as an important milestone in the history of prostitution in Nevada, after the legendary prostitute Beatrice “3$” Thompson announced her retirement after a 54-year career that left 500,000 customers satisfied, including four American Presidents. Nicknamed “3$” for the price of a blowjob when she started working in the sex industry, Ms. Thompson rapidly became known as one of the best in the profession. The Sex Workers’ Union of Nevada named her “Sex Worker of the Year” seventeen times between 1969 and 1992 and honored her contribution to the profession with a Lifetime Achievement award in 2011. Beatrice Thompson says she could have retired years ago but had always loved her job and wanted to reach an objective she had set for herself decades ago. “When I was younger, I could satisfy 50 to 100 men per day. I decided I would reach half a million before retiring, but then I became less popular so it took a few extra years to get there.” Her very last...

A Very Victorian Two-Penny Hangover

During the Great Depreciation in London, people who couldn’t afford to sleep in a bad could pay twopence for a spot on a bench with a clothesline tied in front of them, so they could sleep while hanging over a rope . The term ‘hangover’ is universally understood to mean the disproportionate suffering that comes after a night of over-indulgence. But where does the term actually come from? One possible explanation is, somewhat strangely, Victorian England. During the Victorian era the practice of paying for a ‘two-penny hangover’ was incredibly popular among the country’s homeless population and the term ‘two penny hangover’ was so commonly used that it made its way into contemporary literature. A two-penny hangover is not the description of a very cheap night out, nor is it the amount it would cost you to get drunk in Victorian England. It is actually somewhere you could go to sleep if you were one of the thousands of homeless and destitute living in the country’s main cities at the tim...

Trophy Hunter Fatally Gored In Groin By Herd Mate Of Buffalo He’d Just Killed As Claude Kleynhans loaded the carcass of the buffalo he'd just killed onto his vehicle, another buffalo violently charged and fatally gored him in the groin with its horn. Longtime South African hunter Claude Kleynhans was loading a freshly-killed buffalo carcass onto his vehicle when another buffalo surprised him with a deadly charge. For more than 30 years, this trophy hunter killed the wildlife of South Africa. But now one of the animals he’s long hunted has sent him to his grave. On May 22, 54-year-old Claude Kleynhans and his hunting party shot and killed an African buffalo near the Levubu River in South Africa’s northern Limpopo Province. But as Kleynhans and his companions prepared to load the carcass onto their vehicle, another buffalo from the same herd charged the hunter and gored him in the groin with its horn. The attack hit his femoral artery, according to local news site the Bosveld Review...
