Dog found MUMMIFIED inside tree trunk 20 years after getting stuck

The dog, named (slightly insensitively) “Stuckie” after a 2002 naming contest, had apparently been in the tree for approximately 20 years before the loggers discovered him. Experts believe that he had probably chased after some small game, wedging himself into the hollow tree and climbing a whopping 28 feet up before getting stuck.

In 1980 this mummified dog was discovered on a lumber truck after an oak had been cut into logs, instead of sending the timber to the pulp mill they donated it to the Southern Forest World Museum in Georgia.

It's thought that the dog had been mummified for atleast 20 years when it was discovered and that he chased some animal up the tree and then down a hollow where he ended up stuck and then died of starvation.

The conditions inside the tree allowed the corpse to dry without rotting.

For decades this dog was simply called "mummified dog" until the museum ran a name-the-dog-contest and the name "Stuckie" won.
