A decomposed female body has been found inside a bin at Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal railway station in Bengaluru’s Baiyappanahalli, Deccan Herald reports.
With this being the third such discovery of a woman’s body at a railway station in the past three months, police suspect it could be the work of a serial killer or gang of killers.
The details: Railway Protection Force officials on Monday evening identified a drum at the station as the source of a putrid smell, and when senior railway police arrived at the scene, they cut it open to find a corpse.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify suspects, and the case is under investigation, per The New Indian Express.
The big picture: Police had discovered another such body in a drum at Yeshwantpur railway station on January 4, and the first body was found inside the compartment of a train at Baiyappanahalli Railway Station on December 6 last year, writes Times Now.
All three murders remain unsolved, but the similarities in the pattern have raised suspicions of a serial killer.
According to The Siasat Daily, however, police have identified three men who dumped the drum in the latest case and hence suspect a gang of killers.
