According to history disclosure on the Facebook page of Diaspora Radio International, below is the live letter sent to Queen Elizabeth, the queen of England in 1976.

‘Idi Amin Dada sent love letters to the Queen of England and asked her to marry him.

He wanted to be the King of Scotland. He declared himself the “Conqueror of the British Empire” and the “Last King of S.cotland,” after Britain severed diplomatic ties with Uganda in July 1976.

If the Queen of England had accepted his proposal, the direction of that relationship would have brought about the unification of E.uropean and African protectorates.

He even ordered British to carry him”

Letter Reveals Amin’s Friendship With Queen Elizabeth

An old letter by Her Majesty the Queen of England Elizabeth II, to Uganda’s dictator President Iddi Amin Dada has been published for the first time from the British royal archives.

The letter which appeared in today’s British newspapers, was signed by Queen Elizabeth, with the line “Your Good Friend”

Amin was a known brutal dictator, in whose 8 year reign more than 500,000 people were murdered. Under his tyranny, many foreigners too were brutalized, murdered and others banished such as the 1972 mass expulsion of all Indians.

An exited Amin, after receiving a Christmas card from the Queen, sent chatty letter in January 1972 inviting Queen Elizabeth to the tenth anniversary of Uganda’s independence that October, writing: ‘It would do my government a great honour if Your Majesty could grace these celebrations with your presence in the company of your husband and the rest of your family.’

In response, Her Majesty wrote:

“Thank you for your message of 10th January, delivered by your Minister of Defence. I reciprocate your good wishes and read with pleasure what you said about relations between our countries.

I am very grateful for you asking me to attend the celebrations of the Tenth Anniversary of Ugandan Independence on 9th October, 1972. I am most disappointed that my commitments at that time will prevent my accepting your invitation.

I take this opportunity of wishing all success to your celebrations and to Uganda and its people throughout 1972.

I am your good friend.

Although he fled and died in exile in Asia in the early 2000s, Iddi Amin’s bad history has vividly been fading fast in Uganda. There has been calls to have remains repatriated, and for a road to be named after him.

The Uganda Tourism Board has also announced plans to use some of his ‘good records,” for promotion of tourism in the country.
