Well, teacher/student relationship is not balanced. The power in the relationship rests in the teacher'shands. It is unethical (and depending on student age, may be illegal) for ateacher to exploit their position by becoming entangled in a “dating” relationship.

This is for number of reasons, but mostly because of expectations carried over from time in school. Teachers are expected to not think about their students sexually, and for good reason.
