The small holes on the ears, which have attracted attention recently, are actually not a new situation. If you have a hole in your ear that you don't know why, you are not alone. Here is the reason for the hole on the ears. In a study conducted in England, this situation, which is seen in 1 out of every 100 people, is a completely natural condition.

Although the preauricular sinus is so common, the reason is not well known. This is what makes it a subject of curiosity. According to the theory of evolutionist Neil Shubin, these holes are the evolution of the gills in aquatic creatures. With this unconfirmed theory, the connection between fish and humans is intended to be explained.

These holes, which occur during pregnancy, usually form at the 6th week and are hereditary. Holes were first seen in 1864, according to Library data. Although it is generally seen in one ear, it has been recorded in people with two holes.

Philadelphia Children's Hospital, which states that although the preauricular sinus is a harmless defect, it can sometimes cause cysts and infections, recommends surgical intervention in repeated cases and then applying various treatments to eliminate the hole.
