On Monday 16th February 1807, Webster visited the Dakin home. He poisoned the tea which was consumed by Thomas Dakin, Elizabeth Dakin, Mary Roe, their servant Jane Fern, and the four Dakin children.

Thomas Dakin, Elizabeth Dakin and Mary Roe died, with Jane Fern and the four children being left gravely ill.

His motive, a dispute over the sum of £660 (£77,000 today).

He was convicted of poisoning Thomas Dakin, Elizabeth Dakin and Mary Roe.

Webster was hanged at Derby Gaol on Friday 20th March 1807, aged 34. His body then dissected by the local medical school.
