Chinese Bamboo Torture

As you probably know, bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth. In addition to ancient China, It is true that the Japanese used Chinese Bamboo Torture on POWs during WWII.

A torture from Chinese bamboo plantations. This Bamboo used to grow at high speed, with growth up to 3 feet in a day. In such a scenario, the torturers would cut the Bamboo in a patch closest to the roots, thus forming a patch of Bamboo tips. They would then stake the condemned out over the bamboo tips.

How it worked:

1. Tips of living bamboo were cut sharp to create a spear.

2. The victim was suspended horizontally above such a patch of bamboo.
