Mary Ashford and Barbara Forrest, both 20, spent their last hours alive dancing on May 27—but 157 years apart

Mary Ashford and Barbara Forrest, both 20, spent their last hours alive dancing on May 27—but 157 years apart.

In 1817, Ashford was spotted in the company of Abraham Thornton around midnight after attending a dance with her friend Hannah Cox. At 4am, Ashford showed up at Cox's house, where she'd left her work clothes, and said she'd been with Thornton, per the Lineup.

Hours after she set off for home, her bruised body was found in a water-filled pit in the park by a laborer who followed two sets of footprints from a slick of blood in the grass, per the Birmingham Mail. Authorities believed Ashford was sexually assaulted and drowned, and Thornton was tried for her murder.

Though he admitted having sex with Ashford before walking her to Cox's house, Thornton maintained he didn't kill her and was found not guilty after three witnesses backed up his alibi.

Fast forward 157 years: Authorities say Barbara Forrest was raped and strangled on May 27, 1974, also in Pype Hayes Park. Forrest had been out dancing with her boyfriend until 1am, when he said he walked Forrest to a bus stop

This time authorities didn't point the finger at the date. Rather, police charged Forrest's co-worker with her murder after bloodstains were found on his pants and an alibi proved false. His name: Michael Ian Thornton.

He was later acquitted due to a lack of evidence. In another similarity between the two cases, the Lineup notes that both Ashford and Forrest spoke of feeling a sense of dread in the days before their deaths. Both murders remain unsolved. (Another death may be the most baffling cold case of the 20th century.) TO KNOW MORE CLICK HERE

Undiluted 5 REASONS WHY LADIES DON’T FORGET WHO DEFLOWERED THEM

I deflowered many girls who are now ladies. They still call me to know how i'm doing, what i'm doing,if i'm married. One day a man called my line and said " please leave my wife alone! I was confused, i called him back to tell him that he called a wrong number but he called my names. He said when anything happens to his wife suddenly, instead of shouting something like " JESUS" she will shout my name. And i have not seen this lady for about 7 years. Sometimes i feel it's a curse because they are many that i deflowed. It there exist that special and unbreakable bond, because recent confession and impressions from the ones I was privileged to deflowered attest to it, to the extent that Sarah (now married) told me that she will never forget me in life and that if she has another opportunity or come back to life as a girl, I will be the one to deflowered her. The "Spirit of St. Louis" plane that carried Charles Lindbergh on his historic transatlantic flight from New York to Paris was strikingly simple in design

The "Spirit of St. Louis" plane that carried Charles Lindbergh on his historic transatlantic flight from New York to Paris was strikingly simple in design. The plane flew 3,610 miles nonstop in just 33.5 hours, yet it measured less than 28 feet long, seven feet shorter than a standard school bus, and it was built with just a single 220-horsepower engine, about the same as a full-size sedan. Its fuselage was constructed with a pared-down steel frame and its wings were made from spruce. And the whole plane, apart from the engine, was wrapped with only canvas. In fact, it didn't even have a front windshield because extra gas tanks were placed directly in front of the cockpit to help balance out the weight of the additional fuel. But despite its shortcomings, the plane did exactly what it was supposed to do — and made Lindbergh the most famous pilot on Earth. Read the story of Charles Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis" by following the link in our profile. Th...

At 5:29 p.m. on June 4, 2008, Jodi Arias took this photo of her on-again-off-again lover Travis Alexander while he was in the shower right after they made love

At 5:29 p.m. on June 4, 2008, Jodi Arias took this photo of her on-again-off-again lover Travis Alexander while he was in the shower right after they made love. Less than a minute later, she stabbed him at least 27 times, sliced his throat from ear to ear, and shot him in the head before taking horrific photos of his blood-soaked body. She then tried to delete the pictures and destroy the camera by putting it in Alexander's washing machine — but police recovered it and charged her with first-degree murder just days later. Travis Victor Alexander (July 28, 1977 – June 4, 2008) was an American salesman who was murdered by his ex-girlfriend, Jodi Ann Arias (born July 9, 1980), in his house in Mesa, Arizona. Arias was convicted of first-degree murder on May 8, 2013, and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on April 13, 2015. At the time of the murder, Alexander suffered 27 knife wounds and a gunshot to the head. Arias testified that she killed him in self-defe...

At 9:17 a.m. on February 28, 1997, Larry Phillips Jr. and Emil Matasareanu popped a few muscle relaxers and entered a Bank of America in North Hollywood. They were wearing ski masks and custom body armor while carrying automatic rifles with thousands of rounds of ammunition. One witness recalled: "I heard gunshots and screaming voices — men's voices — yelling, 'This is a holdup!'" The men opened fire at the door to the bank's vault, breaking it open and giving them access to the loot inside. At that point, the robbers' plan began to fall apart. The armored truck that would be delivering the bank's cash for the day hadn't yet arrived, so there was less money in the vault than Phillips and Matasareanu had anticipated. Enraged, Matasareanu started shooting at the remaining cash, blowing it to shreds. With just over $300,000 in their bags, the men exited the bank — and were instantly surrounded by police. Instead of surrendering, however, they waged...

The story of Sawney Bean, Scotland's most famous cannibal

The story of Sawney Bean, Scotland's most famous cannibal. Strangely enough, the bizarre 2006 film ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ was actually based on the folklore story of Sawney Bean, the head of an inbred cannibal family. See the illustrations and go inside the bizarre story of Sawney Bean, Scotland’s most famous cannibal and inspiration behind ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ — Legend maintains that for over 25 years, Sawney Bean and his incestuous family of cannibalistic children terrorized medieval Scotland. According to folklore, the family would descend upon unsuspecting travelers and then dismember, pickle, and devour them. Some estimate that the family cannibalized up to 1,000 people — until one man escaped and told King James VI. The story appeared in The Newgate Calendar, a crime catalog of Newgate Prison in London. The legend lacks sufficient evidence to be deemed true by historians, and there is debate as to why the legend would have been fictionalized; nevertheless, the myth of ...
