How I Spent My Last Christmas Holiday

I spent my 2019 Christmas holiday in a dramatic way. It was like Nollywood movie. During The 2019 Christmas period, the economy of the country(Nigeria)was not friendly, Cost of living was very high and individual need to strike very hard to survive. It was my worst Christmas Holiday.

The president of the country Nigeria ( 2019 Nigeria President) banned importation of Rice and other importation of food items. As if that was not enough, he went on to close border. His reason was that, he want the citizens of the country to go into agriculture especially for Rice production. I couldn't imagine the need Why he make such decision on Christmas period. It would have been nice if He could have wait and allow us to celebrete Christmas with the little money We have at hand after which come up with his decision.

The quantity of Rice available in the country at that period was not enough to feed her citizens. So therefore, there was scarcity of Rice. In the sense that, There was an increase in demand of Rice without a corresponding increase in quantity supply. Since there was no corresponding increase,it then lead to an increase in the price of rice. The increase in the price of rice affected the price of others related food items negatively. There was also an increase in price of goods like tomatoes, groundnut oil, chicken, etc.

My estimated budget exceeded greatly my income. I know things would not be alright. My wife was a full time house wife and she that Type of woman that value materials things and like to be like her mate. Day to watchnight of Christmas as usuall, We use to organize a small part among us But during this Christmas time i dare not. My wife became unhappy and advoided me throughout the night.

During the watchnight, one of our neighbour bought a full sack of Rice with 3 live chickens Plus other related food items. As he drove in to the compound, he deliberately stop the vehicle in middle of the compound for everyone to see. His wife came and brought out the food items in the boot in which We all seen.

With jelousy, my wife called for my attention and ask me to do likewise. I took my ATM card and then went out But Only to come back with two paint rubber of Rice along with a live chicken. My wife was not satisfy with what i bought and was not happy.

After given her family's what it takes as a husband inlaw and also given to my own family, I have to choose between the chidren and her. I decided to use the rest money to buy the children Christmas clothes. I couldn't gave her money for her Christmas dress Because all was with me was not enough and I can't afford to spend beyond it.

On the Christmas day, to my greatest suprise! I learnt that my wife sold all what i bought and used the money to buy for herself Christmas dress. She abandon me and the children and went for her friend's place to spend the Christmas.

It was me and the children alone in the home. The little children who was expecting Christmas rice were dissapointed and they were crying betterly. I left them to cry Because there was Nothing i could do.

Thanks to my friend who came and saw me in the situation,sympathes with me and took the children home to been given Christmas Rice. This was my worst Christmas ever in history. Me of all people
